1. What is a Machine-Control Package (or MCP)?

As early as 1986, DynaPath Systems, Inc. (formerly Autocon Technologies, Inc.) offered a package that included a complete CNC control, axis servo drives, motors, interconnecting cabling and necessary electrical devices bundled in an electrical enclosure. These packages were intended as a comprehensive kit to be installed on a CNC-prepped knee mill or to facilitate conversion of a manual knee mill to a CNC-controlled knee mill. In some rare cases, a mechanical kit that provided precision ballscrews to replace acme screws was also provided.

2. How do I know which wiring diagram to use?

In general, the proper wiring schematic is dependent on the CNC control installed. Each control series will have an MCP wiring diagram associated with it.

The control system could be a Delta 10/20, a Delta 40/50/60 or a Delta 1000/2000, depending on the ship date. The majority of packages were 3-axis and were installed on mills, but the 2-axis version could be used for either a mill or a lathe. There are no known Delta 30 packages. Although not always accurate, the model number entry on the black and silver serial number tag will sometimes have 'MCP' appended (such as D10M-MCP.) The most reliable identification method is to call DynaPath with the control Serial Number and ask a technician to look up the information in our files.

3. Wiring diagrams by part number.

Many changes occurred over the years in the CNC controls and components used in Machine-Control Packages. The most generic diagram for each control system series is provided here. These diagrams are provided free of charge and 'as is.' It is the responsibility of the user to determine whether any diagram is the proper wiring diagram for his/her equipment.
